    Hey guys, if you have a commercial establishment like an auto shop, a large warehouse, an office or a studio, it’s essential to install a doorbell that can be heard and seen to let you know if somebody is on the premises. Now, today I’m going to be installing the WDK ERA strobe kit that comes with a doorbell with a magnetic contact and a receiver and a strobe light from Safeguard Supply.

    So let’s go over all the features and let me show you how to set it up. Okay, here’s everything that comes with the kit. You have a receiver, a transmitter, a power pack, a mounting kit, a magnetic contact, a CR2 lithium battery and a strobe light with an anchor kit. The next thing you want to do is take out these grommets on the back of the transmitter to get to the four Phillips screws.

    Take off the back of the transmitter and once it’s off you can place the CR2 lithium battery inside and then put it back together. Now you’re ready to pair the transmitter with the receiver. Plug in the receiver at the bottom, and once it’s plugged in, you’ll see a green light here in the corner. On the side, you’ll see three buttons, a mode button, a zone, and a volume button.

    To start the process, press and hold the mode button for two seconds, and you’ll hear a short tone. Once you hear that short tone, it will be in program mode. You’ll be able to see both lights flashing. Now, all you have to do is take the transmitter and press the gray button. You’ll hear a short tone. Now press and hold the mode button until you hear another short tone, and this will indicate that they have been paired.

    Now you can try it. Press the button on the transmitter or use the magnetic contact.

    You can adjust the volume by pressing the volume button and cycling through the different levels. I’m going to choose level 2. Now it’s time to set up and wire the strobe to the receiver. This is a mounting bracket that you will screw to the wall in these holes. And the wires will go through the center.

    And once it’s on the wall you’ll be able to twist the strobe light onto the bracket. Carefully take the back cover off the receiver and you’ll see a row of connections for the wires for each zone. The solid red wire will go to the positive in zone 1 and the striped wire will go to the negative in zone 1.

    You also have an option at the top of the receiver to have a strobe light be active for 5 seconds and even up to 2 minutes. Each zone can have its own strobe. So it’s best to test all your connections and signals before mounting it to the wall. So let’s test it.

    Okay, it works. Now we’re ready to go and install it. You can use the ERA UTX as a door contact or a doorbell.
