Description
Does Your Business Need a Reliable, Long Range Wireless Motion Sensor Door Chime Kit?
The most powerful entrance alert kit on the market with a 4000-foot range. This kit features a Passive Infrared (PIR) sensor/transmitter (ERA-PIR) activated when the combination of heat and movement is detected within the monitored zone with a desktop receiver. The ERA-PRDCR is a Motion Alarm kit designed for Businesses & Warehouses.
This motion sensor door chime entrance alert monitors doorways where the door sometimes remains open or covers open areas such as hallways or open entrances.

Watch This Short Video on How the ERA-PRDCR
*Please note: this video demonstrates the ERA-PRDCR kit with the addition of the ERA-RXPG as an add-on receiver. The ERA-RXPG may be purchased separately from the ERA-PRDCR and is not included in the kit.
Scenarios of When to Use the ERA-PRDCR
Real-World Examples of How Businesses Use the ERA-PIR Motion Sensor:
Protecting Warehouses and Storage Facilities:
- Monitoring large, open spaces: Mount the ERA-PIR near loading docks, storage aisles, or exterior building perimeters to detect unauthorized entry attempts, even from afar.
- Securing valuable inventory: Place sensors in specific storage areas housing high-value items for immediate notification of movement.
- Enhancing employee safety: Use the sensor in restricted areas or near dangerous equipment to alert personnel of potential hazards.
Improving Security for Large Outdoor Areas:
- Securing expansive parking lots: Monitor car movement and deter potential theft or vandalism across the parking area.
- Protecting outdoor inventory yards: Track activity in storage yards for equipment, building materials, or other valuable assets.
- Safeguarding perimeters of large properties: Cover long stretches of fencing or property lines with the sensor’s extended range, deterring trespassing and alerting personnel.
Enhancing Customer Service in Retail Settings:
- Greeting customers upon entry: Place the sensor near the entrance to trigger a chime or announcement, welcoming customers and improving their experience.
- Monitoring fitting rooms: Discreetly detect movement in fitting rooms to alert staff and prevent potential theft or vandalism.
- Securing stockrooms and back-of-house areas: Protect restricted areas while notifying staff of authorized personnel entering.
Boosting Security in Additional Environments:
- Office buildings: Monitor common areas, lobbies, or after-hours access points for enhanced security.
- Schools and campuses: Secure large outdoor areas like playgrounds, athletic fields, or parking lots.
- Construction sites: Protect equipment, materials, and perimeter fencing from unauthorized access.
The Components of the Motion Alarm Kit
When activated, the sensor transmits a wireless signal up to 4,000 ft. away to the compatible ERA-DCRX or the ERA-RXPG (choose receiver) wireless receiver. This kit includes 1 x ERA-PIR sensor/transmitter and 1 x ERA-DCRX receiver.
The ERA-PIR Motion Entry Alert Sensor
The sensor is an excellent choice for doors where you cannot mount an ERA door contact sensor or for door or other entries that sometimes stay open, hallways, and more. It creates an invisible zone that triggers when the combination of heat & movement is detected.
The sensor features a unique aluminum bracket mounted above a doorway or on the ceiling, allowing you to pivot the sensor toward the monitored zone. This allows you to have better control over the monitored area to reduce false alarms and interference. The higher the sensor is mounted, the wider the monitored zone. When a visitor passes under or through the monitored zone, it sends a radio signal up to 4,000 ft. away to the compatible receiver.
The receiver (see below) will play a chime sound when the motion sensor triggers it. Up to 12 different sensors may be paired to each ERA-compatible receiver, with each sensor triggering the receiver to play a selected chime sound. The number of receivers that may be paired to a sensor/transmitter is not limited.
The ERA-DCRX Desktop Receiver
Each ERA-DCRX receiver has four zones, each capable of pairing with three sensors/transmitters (meaning the receiver can work with up to 12 different sensors/transmitters). When triggered, each zone will play 1 of 12 melodies you assign to the zone so you can easily distinguish which sensor was activated. For example, you may program zone 1, the front door, to play a simple ding-dong sound, while zone 2 plays the Westminster Chime sound.
The receiver features a volume control button that allows you to turn the unit off, mute it, and set it to four different sound levels, with a max sound of approximately 85 dB. In addition, each zone on the receiver features a live 12V DC output that allows you to add sirens, strobes, fire alarm bells, and buzzers to increase the sound and bright visual indicators when the listening area is loud.
For complete kits with strobe lights, please visit the WDK-ERA-STROBE, or for kits that feature external sound options, visit the WDK-ERA-KIT product pages. The sensor/transmitter in this kit is the ERA-PIR, a motion-activated sensor. The idea behind this sensor is to mount it over an area you would like to monitor, such as a doorway, hallway, or another location.
Features of this Motion Based Chime Kit:
- Range from transmitter to receiver is up to 4,000 ft. line of sight.
- The sensor/Transmitter is powered by a 9V alkaline battery (not included).
- The receiver is powered by a plug-in wall transformer (included) for the ERA-DCRX or directly into the wall for the ERA-RXPG.
- The sensor/transmitter is shipped with an aluminum mounting bracket and screws. This bracket makes it easy to position the sensor to best create the monitored zone per your requirement (see chart below).
- A combination of heat and movement activates the sensor.
- The sensor is indoor rated.
- Low battery notice: when the battery in the transmitter is low, the zone indicator light it is paired to will blink for 10 minutes following a trigger & the melody plays two times in a row.
- The ERA-DCRX Receiver has four zones, each featuring a 12v DC output. Each zone can accommodate up to three (3) sensors. The receiver also features a 1 x C-form relay assignable to any combination of zones.
- The ERA-RXPG plugin receiver will work with up to 12 different sensors/transmitters.
- Both receivers feature a volume control button.
- Sound DOES NOT emanate from the sensor/transmitter. Radio signal transmits from the sensor to the receiver where sound is played.
- Sensor/ Transmitter size: 2.5” H x 4.55” W x 1.52 ” D.
- One-year manufacturer’s warranty.
- Manufactured by Safeguard Supply.

How & Where to Mount the Motion Sensor:
Typical installation of the sensor is to mount it above a doorway to trigger when motion is detected through the entrance (see
First, mount the aluminum bracket on the wall above the area you want to monitor. Next, slide the sensor into the bracket with screws on the sensor’s end fitting into the bracket’s open end.
Next, manipulate the sensor angle to create the monitored zone needed in your situation. Finally, tighten the screws.
The Size Motion Sensor’s Monitored Zone:
The height dictates the size of the monitored zone in which the sensor is mounted. The higher it is mounted, the wider the zone. The sensor was designed to have a narrow depth to help limit the invisible beam bleeding into areas you do not intend to monitor. The table below approximates the zone created based on the mounting height.
| Height | Width | Depth |
|---|---|---|
| 8 ft. | 9.20 ft. | 0.60 ft. |
| 10 ft. | 11.5 ft. | 0.75 ft. |
| 13 ft. | 14.95 ft. | 0.98 ft. |
| 16 ft. | 18.40 ft. | 1.20 ft. |

I have used for a week now and the product has worked perfectly. I have two other front entrances and will be ordering two more today. It is refreshing to actually get what you pay for.
Ashley Comeau –
The motion sensor on this doorbell is far better than any we have tried so far. Worth the money!

The products came as described. It took a total of 15min to pair the unit, install the motion sensor and place the chime in the receptionist area. Now our guests are not stuck in a vestibule knocking on the door to get the receptionist attention. Great product.

Hi, I am interested in the ERA-PRDCR wireless sensor kit. Can you tell me if the transmitter and receiver will lose programming if there is power loss during a storm for example?

Works very good!

I placed an order for a Motion Activated Business Ready Entrance Alert Kit with Extended Long Range Wireless on a Tuesday night and followed up with a phone call to 1800DoorBell on Wednesday morning. I called to verify that I had properly ordered everything that I would need to install this system. The person I spoke to asked all the right questions and pointed out that one of the items I ordered was unnecessary but that I would need another item to have the system perform as I wanted. She was able to change the order for me immediately and still get it out the door and in my hands Friday. I purchased the system for my mother-in-law, who lives alone, and had intruders enter her shed. She was very upset and wanted to prevent this from happening again. I wanted the alarm so that intruders would find her shed very unwelcome due to the loud alarm and flashing lights. I found the alarm very easy to install. It worked exactly as expected, no muss, no fuss. My mother-in-law is happy which means my wife is happy, which means that I am happy. Thank you 1800DoorBell for offering this excellent product and for being so wonderfully helpful. I would eagerly do business with this company again!

Easy to set up. We actually ended up just using velcro to attach the transmitter above the door, it was faster for us at the moment. We just left the default sound on one door and it works just fine. We’ll Miley be ordering more transmitters for more doors.

Order was delivered quickly. Doorbell was easy to install and works as expected.

This was my first install of one of your products. Super easy! Had both receivers paired to the transmitter in about 5 minutes. Volume was excellent.

Very easy to set up. Looks great on the doors and the chimes are loud and noticeable. Would definitely order again
Shelley Fahnanstiel –
thanks so much for the great equipment that marilee helped us purchase

Transmitter and receivers easily programmed and installed. Instructions need to be updated when receivers are DC instead of battery. A quick guide would be helpful as well. High Volume is more than adequate. Reliability is yet to be determined.

I have purchased two systems from 1800doorbell and they both do exactly what we needed them to do. One of them alerts us to an elderly family members movement into unsafe areas at night. The other notifies personnel working in a loud environment when someone either enters through the entrance door or the door is locked and someone pushes the button to notify workers that someone is at the door. The only gripe is that none of it is made in the USA especially considering the price.
Laura Davis –
We were having a hard time staffing our front door and getting everything done, tried out a couple different chimes and this one ACTUALLY worked the way it said it would!

I bought 2 pc 1800 Doorbels for my shop. My shop have connected rooms, when I’m bussy with other customers, noticed new incoming clients. Long range, differant melodies. I’m very happy, standart post reached in a 4 days. I recommend

I have been looking for a solution for some time now, and this wireless option was a great fit. I was able to watch the Youtube Video and program the speakers easily. The selling point for me was being able to add extra speakers to one system. I have a large store with many back rooms / coolers / office. Adding speakers in each area was important and you can increase the volume for the large store rooms and decrease the volume in the office to make it less intrusive.
you do need to plug the speakers into an power outlet by the way wasn’t to much of a problem, but something to think about.
WORTH EVERY DOLLAR

Ordered the ERA-PRDCR unit as a “door chime” for a small accounting firm (sometimes we don’t have anyone at the front desk and it’s great to know if someone has entered the office). Quick shipping to the west coast after placing the order over the phone. Company answered my questions up front so that I was sure I was purchasing the right product for my business.
Installation was quick and relatively easy. After the battery has been installed in the transmitter, be sure to wait to close up the transmitter unit with the screw until it has been paired with the receiver.
Our transmitter is a couple of office drywall walls away from the receiver. No issues so far with the ability of the signal to reach through the drywall (which was my big concern up front).
Unit appears to be quality-built. It’s more solidly constructed than the low-cost alternative purchased online from Amazon that lasted about 15 months before failing. I have high hopes that this unit will work out.

We run a floral/gift shop with a workspace in back (separated by a full cinderblock wall). Sometimes our florists need to be in the back workspace instead of up front where they can see the door. I have installed 2 WiFi cameras that display on a TV in the back space so that whoever is working back there can have a real-time visual on the front entrance/shop area. I using an app for this video feed that will pick up any motion and play a chime sound instantly through the TV. Sounds great except for two things: 1) if the camera drops signal (happens every now and then), then we lose all knowledge about what’s happening up front and 2) the field of view is much too large and therefore creates too many false positive chimes! This ERA-PRDCR kit is MY ANSWER to the perfect setup. I now rely on this unit 100% for my motion sensing chime. I have installed it right next to the entry door so the field of view is nice and narrow. The receiver is way back in the floral work space and there are zero issues with reception. The signal goes right through the cinderblock wall! I still run the constant video feed on the TV in back. The chime alerts us that someone has walked through the door, which prompts a look at the monitor to see more detail about what’s going on. I docked one star for the thoughtless chime sounds and also the cost feels a bit high to me for the actual technology at play. I’d prefer more options for shorter tones. I don’t need an entire song playing every time somebody walks through the door. That would be super annoying, especially with groups of shoppers. If you preview the tones on this page, you’ll realize what I mean. There are really only 3 options for our needs (Ding-Dong, Ding-Dong 2, and Bird Chirp).

My wife has a busy Florist across the street from a large cemetery, we recently added a large stand alone Refridgerator which unfortunately obstructs our view of the front counter and entrance. I decided to buy the ERA-PRDCR motion alarm especially after reading J.H.’s previous review of how well it worked in his florist. It came very fast! The product was very easy to install and works very well. Makes a sound every time a customer walks in –

I set these up and they work really well. Don’t buy for the price, you will need to buy a lot of them and still have junk.
KB (Ottawa, Canada) –
We ordered the base unit, motion sensor and optional doorbell for a hybrid office. We wanted to ensure that staff working alone in the office had the option to hear when people entered the space through the main door (to a common corridor). We also wanted the option to close and lock the door – and to leave a doorbell in the hallway – for delivery people and unscheduled visitors.
The kits was exactly as advertised, and promptly delivered (we are in Canada). The volume and sounds are easily adjusted, and turning the sensor away from the lobby (to face the wall) stops the chime when there are many people in the office.
The one quibble I had is that while the doorbell unit was provided with a battery, we had to buy a 9V battery for the main sensor.
While we have had the equipment installed for less than a month, I have no hesitation recommending it to others.

I called 1800Doorbell to get some pre-sales tech support to make sure I ordered the correct product for our needs. The customer service representative was very helpful and guided me to the correct product.
I received the items as expected and installation and operation are very good. I have the transmitter sensor above an entrance door and the other two receivers are in different areas in a warehouse. We have concrete block walls and regular studded drywall and the receivers are up to 75 feet away with no direct line of sight and they work flawless. Our setting is a combination office/warehouse setting.

The doorbell motion detector works perfect for our small business. Some days there is no one positioned at our front door and this motion detector doorbell system is just what we needed for prompting us that someone has entered the building. Love all the ringtone options!
