At first glance, this may look like an ordinary wired door chime. But what sets this Craftmade wired doorbell apart from its peers is the quality of the sound generated.  Just like most of its counterparts, it is a two-note doorbell, playing a two-note sound for the front door and a one-note sound for the second door.
The difference is the great sound that this chime produces.  Most wired chimes have an internal plunger that strikes a small plate inside the wired door chime cabinet to produce the sound. This product’s chime sound travels through the two tubes, creating a richer sound than you hear on other products.

The CTPW chime by Craftmade are more decorative and produce a richer sound than many other wired doorbells. If you have a wired doorbell button and a chime transformer in your home, setup is easy. Simply replace your current wired doorbell with this one, and connect it to the chime transformer and wired push button to have your new chime up and running. If this is a new door chime installation, please ensure you have a 16 volt transformer and a push button to complete the system.

    Arlo’s website states:
    The Arlo Audio Doorbell is compatible with AC-powered mechanical and digital chimes operating between 8-24 volts.
    All of our chimes operate off of 16 volts. Since we do not carry Ring or Arlo products, this is the only information we have access to. Please contact Ring or Arlo for any additional information. Thank you.

    I replaced an expensive Nutone doorbell that wasn’t giving the dong (just the ding), even after I switched out the transformer. This doorbell gives a nice ding-dong sound, its slightly louder than our old doorbell. The tubular look is sleek and expensive looking. Super easy to install. I recommend this doorbell.

    No, it is not recommended. That much voltage will cause the hammer to strike with more force than designed. Overtime it will wear out the components.

    Most homes will have a wired doorbell transformer installed in the garage or in the attic. Sometimes they are a little hard to find. But no, this DOES NOT have a transformer and you would need one for this wired doorbell to work correctly.

    1800 Doorbell! was a great buying experience and shipped my order quickly so I would buy from them again. I purchased a Lorex doorbell camera that was not compatible with the original 40+ year old Nutone doorbell in my home. I chose this doorbell as a replacement because it was on the Lorex approved compatibility list and had the most positive reviews, plus it blends well with our interior. Unfortunately, my old Nutone doorbell did not have any wallpaper behind it and this doorbell would not physically cover up the same wall area so my son 3-D printed a custom white backplate as shown in the photo which looks nice as if it came with the doorbell. This doorbell is intended to be mounted vertically because the tubes enhance the sound which may not be as loud if you mount it horizontally although the installation instructions are not specific. I also installed a new T1630 transformer and highly recommend it if you are installing a doorbell camera. Overall I’m pleased with this doorbell purchase and hope it provides years of good trouble free service.

    We ordered and installed the “CTPW Great Sounding White Wired Chime with Pewter Tubes” and it does indeed sound great! It is fun to receive visitors with a better sounding doorbell than the old standard doorbell that came with our house! We also bought and installed a new “DH1201 Doorbell Light Bulb Center Push Button Replacement Part” because the old one was completely worn out and working only intermittently. The push button fit inside the old brass plate. I had to squeeze the springs that hold it in place, with pliers, in order to get it to go into the plate, but it fit in perfectly when the springs/tangs were squeezed together! What a great addition to our house! We are very pleased with the purchase!

    The new doorbell is installed but only makes one chime not too as demonstrated in the short sound clip online. Not clear why – seems to be properly installed.

    My first order did not arrive after a reasonable time, a new doorbell was shipped out and received. The original order arrived shortly there after and it was retuned at no cost.
    Since then the unit stopped working and the new unit was in the mail and received in short order. Marilee was a pleasure to work with and I have spoken to all my friends on checking out the web site! I love the sound of a real chime!!
