Description

The T1630 is a 16-volt, 30-watt doorbell transformer. These products are individually boxed and have a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty.

This product is used to power doorbells with solenoids, highly musical doorbells, or systems that use 2 or more buttons.  The extra wattage comes in handy when you have a long run of doorbell bell wire.

If you only need a 10W doorbell transformer, we recommend the DH905 doorbell transformer by Thomas and Betts.

    This transformer is powerful enough to power two two-tone Heath-Zenith mechanical chimes. One star deducted because the screw to attach transformer to the electrical box didn’t have enough clearance for me. Not nearly as easy as the plastic nut my last transformer came with. But, the chimes sound great with this transformer, so overall I am pleased.

    I replaced my old doorbell and transformer. I bought this 30 watt transformer because it was recommended if the run of the doorbell wire was over 50 feet. I have no idea of the length of run of the doorbell wire, it may or may not be over 50 ft. – this transformer works great. For the few dollars more than the 10 watt transformer it was worth it.

    I bought this to allow for the possibility of adding additional chimes. It is overkill for one chime on a short run, but on the other hand, there is plenty of power to ring my one chime very clearly. My one complaint is that it attaches to the box with a set screw rather than a nut (attaching with a nut is MUCH more secure).

    I bought this T1630 transformer along with a new Craftmade doorbell chime to replace the original 40+ year old Nutone doorbell and transformer in my home. I also installed a Lorex doorbell camera and wanted the larger 30W transformer to ensure enough power was available. The transformer is huge in physical size and mounts into an electrical box knockout hole but you can’t tighten it up enough to where it won’t move around which isn’t good. Otherwise the transformer works great and provides sufficient power for both my new doorbell chime and Lorex camera…I highly recommend this transformer despite it’s mounting design flaw.
