Carlon has shown its ingenuity for home products once again with the wireless doorbell, and nightlight combination. The RC3256 (an RC3253 replacement) is a wireless doorbell chime that does double-duty– without complaining! Similar to the RC3250 plug-in wireless door chime.

Like all the Dimango/Carlon chime products, there’s no wiring needed! Simply plug the receiver into a standard 120 V outlet and mount your door chime button with the included double-sided tape or mounting screws and you are up and running. The chime works flawlessly right out of the box. Need an extra wireless push button? No problem, simply add a Carlon or Dimango branded wireless button and change the tune that the button plays. It just doesn’t get any easier.

What makes Carlon products a great choice is that they have multiple styles of doorbell receivers and push buttons available to use that are all cross-compatible with one another. What they did with the RC3256 is add an LED night light on the bottom portion of their standard plug-in door chime receiver.
Plug these in hallways or dark areas where you need light to help guide your way. This kit contains one Carlon pluging receiver and one Carlon wireless push button (RC4133).
The RC3256 produces great sound quality.
With a volume control setting of low, medium, or high, you can adjust the volume for the level you need. The nightlight is powered by an always cool-to-the-touch LED that will last for years. You can add more receivers throughout your home, or even use the waterproof battery-powered version out on your patio.
Plugin Night Light Wireless Doorbell Receiver
- This plugin chime features a 2-1/4″ speaker that offers crystal clear sound. The receiver is similar to the RC3253 receiver from Carlon.
- The receiver emits a bright nightlight that is powered by a long-lasting LED bulb. There is no auto-sensor on this nightlight, it always stays on. Because it is LED, it won’t burn out and consumes minimal electricity.
- 32 variable codes block interference from other devices.
- The receiver is capable of playing thirteen different tunes (see below) and is set and changed at the buzzer button.

The Good: – The wireless range is very good.rnThe Bad: – On the loudest setting, the volume is low. To change codes, you have to cut wires instead of flipping switches like most wireless doorbells.

I never write reviews on products but after reading the first review of this product, I though I would offer one since I am reordering.rnrnObviously i like the product since I am reordering 🙂 the chime part is the RC3253 (I use them to in our office) but this one has a flashing light. I prefer the privacy codes where they are on the Carlon products because if you accidentally change it, it then become incompatible with your other products. Anyway, how hard is it to unplug the door chime, flip it over and change the code? It is loud and has the flashing light.

No brainer to install, but I expected the volume to be more than it is (even when switched to loud). One weird thing that I found was that when the door bell is pressed, the original bell sounds first then about 2 or 3 seconds latter the new one goes off. I expected everything to go off at once, not a big deal though.

Although advertised to extend 150ft, this is obviouslly only in a open straight line.rnFound I had to place the unit almost directly below the door in order to receive signal. Our house is big enough that the one doorbell in the home could not be heard except close to the front door. The Extend-a-chime was the perfect answer. We needed the battery powered unit (easy to install) and five of the electric – plug in – powered models to cover the needed areas. We purchased another battery powered model to have a “traveler” to take onto the patio and porch. They work great!!

This is a very handy product so that you can extend your wired doorbell which has a chime in a single location so that you can easily install multiple chimes in many locations. I had this system in my old house for 21 years and bought a system for my new house. Hope it lasts just as long.

I called the company to inquire if the new models would be compatible with my old transmitter. I was told all the new models were compatible for the last 13 or so years. (I have forgotten the the year)The year my old one could be found on a small round sticker. Mine was per chased after that year so I was good to go. I did not even have to program it to any new code. The ringers could be a little louder even when on high.
