The CTMB series of wired doorbells by Craftmade are big sellers. What makes them different, aside from the stylish design, is the sound. These chimes have hollow tubes on each side. The metal strike plates are attached to the tubes so that when the plungers hit them, they make a deeper, more resonant sound (see image below).  This chime is compatible with a 16 volt transformer.

Description

Beautiful and unique doorbell by Craftmade.  The CTMB-PR has an old, bronze Peruvian finish with two hanging tubes on each side.  This chime is compatible with up to two wired push buttons and will play a 2-note sound for the front door and a 1-note for the back door.

This wired doorbell by Craftmade produces a warmer sound than most wired doorbells do. Because the doorbell strike plates are located and attached next to the hollow brass tubes, when the plunger strikes, it produces a warmer, deeper sound than most doorbells do.

    Based on the fact that the same sound is played for this as the other three models, I’m guessing so, but the fact that it’s a different product page with a very different description makes me uncertain.

    Very pleased with the appearance and quality of this product. My only problem is the measurements were from the outside of the round columns which left exposed rough drywall behind the unit. I am having a custom backplate made which was an unexpected expense.

    We are very pleased with our new doorbell. We have a large, open concept house so we didn’t want something wimpy. It has a nice tone and can be heard throughout the house. The cover is plastic but it’s painted so nicely that you cannot tell. Plus, it’s mounted up high, so it doesn’t matter.

    Yes, however, make sure you doorbell transformer has is 16V and at least 30VA. The video doorbell requires a lot of amperage, so a standard 15VA doorbell transformer would not consistantly power both the video doorbell and the standard doorbell at the same time.
