Description
You’ve just found the perfect doorbell.
Our CL4000-BN wired door chime is an excellent option for those who are looking for a doorbell that can be customized to match their style preferences. With three finish choices – brushed nickel, flat black, or white – you can easily choose the one that best complements your house’s design. Moreover, this door chime comes with two distinct chime sounds: the two-note ding-dong chime sound is perfect for the front door, while the single-note ding sound is great for when someone’s at your second door. This way, you can differentiate between visitors at the front and back doors and respond accordingly.
You’ll love how sleek the curved cover looks—it offers a contemporary design that fits any decor.
The CL4000-BN measures 9.25 (L) x 7.32(H) x 2.78 (W), so it will fit perfectly on any wall! You can also mount it vertically or horizontally to determine what works best for you and your space.

Parke Terry –
Is this a mechanical chime (striker on metal plate) or a digital chime (uses a speaker to play the tone)?
1800Doorbell –
This chime uses a hammer to strike a metal plate inside the chime unit.
Travis Brown –
How loud is this chime compared to the CL-DW chime?
1800Doorbell –
The real difference is that the cover on the CL-DW has some openings in it that allow the sound the escape a little better. This is just an estimate, but I would say 10%-15% louder.
One suggestion would be to purchase the LRA-EX1000S (https://secure.1800doorbell.com/doorbell-extender-kit-with-flashing-strobe-plug-in-receiver.htm). This is a kit that will extend the listening range of your wired doorbell. It works alongside an existing wired doorbell already installed (or to be installed) in your home.

Do I need to buy a transformer or is it part of the CL4000-BN package?
1800Doorbell –
Good morning. The transformer is separate from the chime so you would need to purchase one. The recommended transformer is the T1610 and I have included that link below. Thank you,

I bought an electronic sound generated doorbell from Home Depot. I needed it for my Simply Safe video doorbell. The Home Depot doorbell did not work properly. Not only that, it sounded cheap. I searched the internet and found this 1800 doorbell. It has an actual mechanical chime and it rings with good volume, clear chime sound and works great with my video doorbell. Highly recommend it
Thom Ruben –
Only slightly louder than my 20 year old doorbell, still not loud enough for this house.
bruce ropski –
are there different chimes for front and rear doors?
1800Doorbell –
Good morning. Yes, the CL4000-BN is a two note (ding, ding/dong), mechanical door chime. Thank you,

Valerie Thruelsen –
Can I add on a doorbell if I order this???
Craig Elliott –
Needed to replace the electronic door bell. When looking at the big box stores, their selection was limited. We chose a chime style that was small enough, white in color that could blend in. Like the real ding dong sound.
Victor Hall –
What are the chime mechanism’s dimensions–NOT the decorative box for the outside? In other words what must the interior dimensions be for the decorative box to accomodate the chime mechanism?
Is the sound mechanism mechanical or digital? Is the mechanism itself available?
Roger –
Will this work with the Lorex 2K Wi-Fi Video Doorbell (Wired)?
Linda Draghi –
Is this unit compatible with Ring doorbell?
Customer –
Is this plastic?
James Hollis –
How many decibels is it?
1800Doorbell –
The doorbell is about 65-70 dBA at 5 feet. If you need something louder, I would recommend you get something like the ERA-EXKIT doorbell extender. You can view it here: https://secure.1800doorbell.com/era-exrpgx.htm

I’m replacing an old door chime and there are just electrical 3 wires coming out of wall (I assume normal voltage). Is there enough space inside the door chime to add the transformer?
Kenneth D. (verified owner) –
Coupled with an excellent selection of doorbell types, customer service was outstanding in helping to select an in stock alternative for one which was on long backorder status. I am very happy with the whole experience.

Can this be painted to match our walls?
Connie J. (verified owner) –
Delivery prompt. Doorbell is nice and loud!
Maclaren Hill –
The chime cover can be painted to match your walls but you will want to make sure to get paint made for the material of the chime cover.
