    It appears that the rear doorbell striker is blocked by a small piece of foam and a piece of plastic in front of the chime. Front doorbell works fine, but the back one does not chime because of this block. Advice?

    This replaced the inner working of one of your doorbells I previously had. The plunger seized and I could not get it to operate smoothly again. The exterior of this doorbell unit is a cheap plastic that doesn’t go with our home. I swapped out the unit and wall mount and jury rigged a connector to reinstall the original cover. This doorbell uses a shorter chime so the ring is slightly higher pitched and sounds a little cheaper but our doorbell is only operated once or twice a year so it will do.

    I am not getting both tones on my Nutone L-17 (vintage 1966) doorbell consistently now. I was on-line and saw one on Pinterest/e-bay but concerned about its condition if it is actually an un-sold, re-discovered unit. I think yours would be a better choice.

    Here are my questions:
    1) What is mounting hole distance C-C (unit mounted vertically)?
    2) What is exact “H” dimension? (This is critical for my existing Nutone cover; I only have 2-1/8″ here.)
    3) Is there a slot at the rear of the frame at least 1-1/2 inches long to allow a metal tab on my Nutone cover to slide into?
    4) Can I use my existing Nutone 12 VAC transformer instead of yours, that will probably lower the volume by 25%, or are
    there other factors in the electrical/magnetic operation of the plungers that require the 16 VAC requirement?

    My New Doorbell
    My new doorbell is gordo defordo to the max. Super amazing easy to install. Just confirm which pair of wires supplies 16 volts and which pair of pare of wires comes from the door bell. Do it wrong and it’s still fixable, just don’t wire the doorbell directly to the transformer. Excellent, inexpensive, will last decades, easy install, fast delivery. I suggest you purchase one just to have on hand. I would buy a sprare but there’s no point, I’m old. Don’t even buy green bananas.
