    How deep is surface mount doorbell CTPAB-BK?

    As a side note, I would recommend that dimensions be reviewed and updated, particularly on surface mounted doorbells. I found a few that do not include depth, as well as at least one listed at 0L.

    I am replacing an existing builder grade doorbell and I am hoping the mounting holes for the screws are in the same place (The CTPAB-BK ). Can you provide dimension for mounting holes? also, is there a file you can send to hear the chime and do you know if new homes are typically built with 18awg wire?

    I bought this and have it installed using the recommended transformer and wiring but the bell just fully chime. It only lets off one short ring now instead of the full ring like it used to. Only rang correctly once or twice and now only the one short one. How do we fix this or is it a faulty unit that we need to request a replacement for?

    I would definitely check with the supplier of your video doorbell to be sure as we do not sell those products and are not experts.

    However, what we frequently run across is problems with wired doorbells used in conjunction with video doorbells. This usually happens because the wired doorbell transformer does not have enough amps or VA to supply both units.

    I would recommend a 30VA transformer like this one https://secure.1800doorbell.com/t1630-16v-30w-transformer.htm or a “tri-volt” like this: https://secure.1800doorbell.com/gbase-dh910.htm

    A standard 10VA transformer would work fine for this chime, but coupling it with a video doorbell requires too much VA…go with something stronger like the 30VA transformer.

    This simple upgrade to your doorbell makes a big difference. The sound is clear and rich. The chime portion that shows on the sides is metal, the one I purcahsed is patna, and lovley. The cover is plastic, but looks very nice. This needs a transformer that is sold seperately. I highly reccommend this chime.

    I was looking for a old style Door bell with a solid sound to it… Like my folks used to have in our house when I grew up. The new stuff commonly found at the box stores with the simple bar ringers did not cut it with me… And the fancy electronic fake sounds didn’t do it for me either… This one with the brass tubes sounds sweet…

    It’s a nice quality doorbell. Everything else out there was plastic, this is nice quality metals. Its compatible with my Ring doorbell, which is part of why I was replacing it. I did need to also purchase an additional piece, a transformer I believe, so it would work properly, as advised by their support team.
