Common Uses of the Long-Range Wireless Alarm for Driveways

Use as a Long Range Driveway Sensor Alarm?

The most apparent use of the Driveway Informer Pro (ERA-DSDCR) by Safeguard Supply is as a Long Range Wireless Alarm for the Driveway.  By mounting the wireless motion sensor outside and aiming the sensor across the driveway or other entrances, you will get an immediate notification when a car or person passes through the monitored zone when the sensor detects movement and heat.  This helps eliminate false alarms caused by standard motion sensors and helps improve home security. The sensor (ERA-DSTX) can be placed up 4,000 ft from the receiver, typically in your home.

Use as a notification alerting device for your office.

    Using the driveway sensor with the default distance of 25 feet, works good. I know they have a mid range setting and longer range like 100 feet but have not tried those settings. But for our purpose it seems to work good and as expected.

    This driveway sensor and remote alarm worked perfectly right out of the box. I left the sensitivity settings at the factory values, screwed it to a tree facing away from the street, synced it to the receiver chime system. It worked perfectly right away. I am not getting any false alarms and it picks up walkers and (of course) vehicles that come into the driveway. Great product.

    I have a farm with two long driveways coming from the north and one from the south. I initially purchased one receiver and two transmitters just to test their effectiveness. I will be ordering two more receivers and at least six more transmitters to place in my tool shop and barn as intruder alarms. Their range is amazing and the different tones will alert us as to which driveway or building has been activated. Easy to conceal transmitter using camo tape and a tiny homemade ghilli suit. Loud receiver alarm inside house. Can hear alarm outside house when set on high. This is my first purchase of 800Doorbell. So far so good. Versatile. Engineers thought out well. DIP switches offer excellent customization. Will buy more transmitters soon. Justa thought: It would be helpful to include a signal strength meter onto receiver.

    The Alarm system is working much better than I expected since I have a large metal sided building that is in direct line of sight for one of the transmitters. It is detecting entries in to the driveway every time though. I have submitted a question though asking about a portable alarm receiver for this unit but I am concerned if I am wanting it for in the metal sided building it will likely not work dependably. Thanks for your product it is performing better than advertised or expected in my situation.

    We use it as a motion sensor in our showroom. Sometimes in the summer we keep our door open so a door alarm wouldn’t work. This unit is a little over kill for inside, but we got it so we could also get a remote beeper, allowing us to go into the adjoining building and be able to hear if motion was detected. Easy to install, plenty loud, works great.

    We have this about 1/4 mile from home and it works good. My only frustration is that there’s no volume knob on the receiver. It has four volume choices and we have it on the lowest, but it’s still plenty loud. I had to placed the receiver in a location where it’s not so disturbing, as sometimes we have a lot of turkeys and deer that cross its detection.

    ERA DSTX Driveway Sensor works sometimes. I have the Remote monitors as well as the base unit. Distance from Driveway sensor to main receiver is 250′ the monitor is on a windowsill with line of sight. The portable monitors are also line of sight. Sometimes on works and the other doesn’t. Have had it out there for 3 weeks and already through 3 batteries. What could be the problem> Also forget about it working if its foggy or raining!

    Kudos that it reached farther to the target zone than my existing alarms but short of my hopeful goal. I live in the woods of northern Michigan. The alarm is active at about the 1000 foot mark which is short of the target distance for incoming intruders. For those looking for a clear line of sight alarm this should work for you, but for those living in the woods it has a hard time reaching out through the forest.

    This driveway alarm works great, way better than the cheap Chinese junk I bought from Amazon. I live in a rural area and my home is several hundred feet off the highway. I like having a little notice when someone drives in – or walks in, as has happened before. I do get an occasional alert from deer/wildlife, but that’s not very often and to be expected in a rural area. The outdoor sensor is probably close to 1,000 feet from the receiver and works extremely well at that distance. I definitely would recommend this unit.

    Farm living in West Tennessee. So far so great! I installed one sensor at our home driveway (clear line of sight 550’ L and +40’ elevation). Installed another on a barn driveway (blocked by numerous oak trees and a hill 275 yards and +40’ elevation away). Both worked great. I used a radio with my wife to setup both sensors. I have another driveway that is a 1/4 mile away through heavy forest, foliage, and hills. I tested a sensor at the gate and it worked. So I ordered another sensor. Very impressive! Time will tell on durability.
